2022-2023 Competition Team Auditions
We are thrilled to hold auditions for our 2022-2023 Competition Season. Below is some information about the season ahead as well as audition information.
AUDITIONS
General Audition and Team Notes
August 8 & 9, 2022
Gasper's School of Dance -- Downtown Studio
Open to all area dancers age 6 - 18.
Once teams are announced, you will need to be registered for the required team class and dance training exclusively with Gasper's School of Dance.
Dancer's who make a team will attend the 2-week Choreography Intensive (Monday, August 15 - Thursday, August 18 AND Monday, August 22 - Thursday, August 25). This will take place in the evening. More details below.

Tuesday, August 9, 2022
5:15pm - 6:15pm -- Demi Team (Ages 6 - 18)
6:20pm - 7:20pm -- Ages 11 - 12
7:25pm - 8:25pm -- Ages 13 - 19
AUDITION INFORMATION
Dancers should arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to their audition time slot. Be sure to warm up upon arrival.
Audition forms or resumes are due prior to the audition date or upon arrival to the studio. Audition form available for download with link below.
Bring all dance shoes: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Turners, and / or character shoes. Your dancer will want to be prepared as they audition variety of styles of dance.

AUDITION FORM SUBMISSION: You can either print the audition form at home and turn in or fill out and email to lacey@gaspersschoolofdance.com. Resumes are also accepted, turn in at the audition or email to Lacey prior to the audition.
CALLBACKS
Callbacks will be held Wednesday, August 10 at our Downtown Studio.
Not everyone will be called back. This does not mean they won't make a team, it is just that we do not need to see the dancer again for a variety of reasons.
Callback times will be as follows and emailed out to dancers on Tuesday, August 9.
5:00pm - 5:45pm -- Session 1
5:50pm - 6:35pm -- Session 2
6:40pm - 7:25pm -- Session 3
7:30pm - 8:15pm -- Session 4
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT
We will announce our Grande Teams, Demi Team and GSD Hip Hop Crew on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
CHOREOGRAPHY INTENSIVE
Dancer's who make a Gasper's School of Dance Performance Team will attend the 2-week Choreography Intensive on Monday, August 15 - Thursday, August 18 AND Monday, August 22 - Thursday, August 25. This will take place in the evening after 4:30pm. A general schedule will be released soon. Dancers will begin meeting with their team, as well as their large groups during this 2 week Choreography Intensive. We will also have team meetings to talk about expectations as a team member, the season and more! Plus, there will be a parent meeting and parent volunteer group meeting during this time as well.
This is required for all team members who make a team as competition routine choreography is the focus of this intensive.
We are excited to get the season off to a great start!
2022-2023 TEAM INFORMATION
Being on our competition team is a commitment to your team, required dance technique classes, as well as a financial commitment. We try to be as transparent as possible of all the information and costs involved. Please contact Lacey to get the details of the team and cost breakdown (lacey@gaspersschoolofdance.com).
COMMITMENT
Attend your required dance classes each week.
Attend your team practice, large group and production practice each week.
Attendance will be checked each round by our staff for dancers required classes.
TEAM INFO
There is lots of information to be given about our teams and we have an Info document with more details. But below is a brief overview.
Team Practice is Mandatory each week. Missed practice requires a private lesson with the coach within 2 weeks. Unexcused missed practice the week before competition weekend will result in removal of routines (groups, solos, duos, trios).
Required technique classes are also to have mandatory attendance. Missed classes should be made up within 4 weeks.
Two divisions of Teams:
GRANDE DIVISION: These dancers have a larger commitment to classes, routines, and financial. Dancers age 5 - 19 may audition for this team. This division is made up of Petit, Passe, Pique, Premiere, and Prima Team.
DEMI DIVISION: The Demi Division is great for those who want a taste of competition or looking to have less of a weekly commitment to free them up to do additional activities and sports. Dancers age 5 - 19 may audition for this team. There are two teams in this division include the Demi Team and the GSD Crew.
NEW THIS SEASON
Dance Tech will be combined with your Team Practices. This will not be listed as an additional class for teams.
The Demi Division will have a Production routine! We will be combining the Demi Team and GSD Crew for an epic production routine.
Calling ALL parents! Brush off your dancing shoes because it's time to dance! This season we will finally introduce our parent routine! Start recruiting your friends today! (Additional costs will apply).
We are heading to Nationals!! Grande Teams are required to attend three regional competitions and one nationals competition in the upcoming season.
Pro Team will be made up of Grande Team small group of dancers chosen from across all the teams who will perform a Small Group Tap Routine. These dancers will be chosen at auditions to be part of this routine. If you have questions regarding this, please email Lacey at lacey@gaspersschoolofdance.com.
