2020-2021 Performance Team Auditions

We are so excited for our 2020 - 2021 Performance Team Season! But first we need to get to the auditions.

AUDITION SIGN-UPS

NEW this season, sign-up for an audition time slot for your age group. We are limited the number of dancers in the studio space for the dancer, staff, and instructors safety.

Each audition session is 45 minutes long. Parents / Guardians will not be allowed at the auditions. Our lobbies are currently closed due to COVID.

Auditions will take place:

August 24 and 25, 2020

GSD - Downtown Studio 524 7th St N, Fargo, ND 58102

What to expect?

• Dancers should come ready to dance.

• They will learn a routine from one of our choreographer / coaches.

• If they have a special skill or trick, they will have 20 seconds to demonstrate it.

• Facial Exercise (for performance)

• The coaches will also want to see:

• Splits: left, right, and center.

• Pirouette Turns: left and right.

• Leaps & Jumps: Jetés, Leaps in Second, Calypsos

Our audition form is now online. Please do not bring a paper copy. Due to COVID we are trying to keep as much digital as possible. Plus it saves a tree!

If you have multiple dancers in your family, please fill out one form per dancer.

Fall Open House 2019

Come visit us for our Fall Open House at one or both locations. Meet our staff and instructors, tour our space and register for classes. All current, past, and new students welcome. We will also have special events and booths from Apex and FMBallet. And of course, no season celebration can begin without cupcakes! Registration is now open online. At Gasper's School of Dance we have on going registration. That means you can register at any time! Already registered online? Stop by and pick up your Registration Bag full of goodies. Each season our dancers receive a new bag and goodies!

FMBALLET

FMBallet is a non-profit pre-professsional / professional ballet company serving the Fargo-Moorhead area. They are housed at Gasper's School of Dance (who is their official training dance school). Dancers from ALL over the area are welcome to audition for their productions of The Classic Nutcracker and the Spring Storybook ballet, Cinderella. They also hold open auditions to all dancers ages 14 - adult for their company.

The FMBallet company meets twice a week (Wednesday 6:30pm - 9:30pm and Friday 7:20pm - 9:30pm). During this time they hold their company class and rehearsals for upcoming productions and events.

Company Auditions

Company and Second Company auditions will be held Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00pm at Gasper's School of Dance - Downtown. Audition forms and requirements are listed on their website.

• Company List will be posted Thursday, August 29, 2019.

• First company class / rehearsal will be held Friday, August 30, 2019.

APEX PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS CENTER

We are excited to partner with Apex Physical Therapy & Wellness Center again this season. They will be present at our Fall Open House this season with a variety of specialties to make your dancers body health the best it can be.

Massage Therapist, Gavin is new to the Apex Team and will be giving FREE 10 min chair massages during the times listed below. He will also give out $10 off your first massage appointment with him. Massages at the studio will be first come, first serve:

South Studio

August 26: 5:30pm - 7:30pm August 27: 3:00pm - 7:00pm

Downtown Studio August 28: 5:00pm - 7:00pm August 29: 3:00pm - 7:00pm

Physical Therapist, Anna Porter, who specializes in dancers health, will also be present to discuss your dancers physical health and ways to take care of your dancer's body during the season, you can also sign-up for Physical Therapy sessions at this time (Anna's Tentative Schedule):

Second Location | Trial Classes

We are so excited to be expanding to South Fargo on Veterans Blvd. This decision has been something we have thought about for awhile, but decided to take the leap this season when we found a space to lease in late August. We have looked at several spaces over the past few years and this one just felt right all around. This wasn't an easy decision as we are starting the new location part way through a season, but we are very excited for the opportunity and new adventure for the studio's growth and expansion.

Our Downtown location will still be our main studio location, classes will remain the same at this space. Your dancer doesn't need to switch studios. The new location will have a NEW set of classes and instructors.

We will be holding a few trial classes on November 1st & 2nd. With the full season beginning November 5th. Come meet the owner of Gasper's School of Dance, our south staff, and some of the instructors. As well as stop by to check out our new location.

This schedule is a sampling of what we will be offering at our new South Location. Class day, times, time lengths, and age groups / levels are not exact. We can help with class placement during those class times if needed. (Click on the image to download a PDF version).

More information about Gasper's School of Dance Classes:

At GSD we do not offer combination classes. This is because we find it important to keep a class focused on one style and not switching part way through the class time. In the past 40 years of the Gasper family teaching dance locally and even more years beyond, teaching throughout the United States, we have seen a greater progress in a dancer’s training who are focused on one style for a class period vs 1 - 2 style that split the time. We strive to provide the best training in a fun and nurturing atmosphere.
